We all know the importance of a good night’s sleep. The fact is, we spend about one third of our lives sleeping and this is time in which much repairing and healing happens!
A comfortable night’s sleep has many benefits including:
– Improved circulation and blood flow
– Reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes
– Decreased risk of death from all causes
– Heightened creativity as well as focus and energy levels during the day.
Sleep quilts are an alternative to traditional bedding or blankets. They are lighter weight and often cooler due to the air flow they allow under the covers. Quilts are available in a size that will fit your mattress, ranging from twin to king size and will generally tuck into your mattress or can be used with a quilt cover for extra warmth when needed.
One of the biggest difference between a quilt and blanket is the way it is used. A blanket is simply placed on top of you as you get into bed, whereas a sleep quilt, also known as a quilt coverlet, typically has snaps enclosures around your body so it stays in place all night long and doesn’t slip off.
The snaps on a coverlet make the difference between a blanket and a true sleep quilt. They are made to be used in place of the sheet, and even with a fitted sheet will keep you cool when warm, and tucked in when it gets cold. It won’t slide off your bed during the night, keeping you nice and toasty warm!
Another attractive feature of quilts is their versatility. If it is too hot for a blanket, just lift an edge. If there is a cool draft, pull up the entire coverlet. Sleeping bags must be zipped or unzipped from the bottom; but with a coverlet you just raise or lower as needed.
